OPHB bio-based antibacterial agent
The antimicrobial functions of Bioserica’s fiber come from OPHB. OPHB is a broad-spectrum bio-based antimicrobial compound that is environmentally friendly and safe. It is certified by Beta Analytic, a radiocarbon dating lab in the fields of archaeology and late quaternary geology, as derived from bio-based carbon.
Broad-Spectrum Antimicrobial
OPHB exhibits outstanding inhibitory or neutralizing effects against a broad-spectrum of gram-positive, gram-negative bacteria, and fungi (such as mold).
OPHB inhibits and neutralizes odor-causing bacteria, leading to odor suppression or elimination.
OPHB is insoluble in water and will not enter the human body through sweat and will not damage the probiotic flora on human skin.
OPHB is a compound of hydroxybutyric acid, a molecule produced by the human body and commonly found in human blood plasma, which underpins OPHB’s biocompatibility.
High-Temperature Resistance
OPHB remains stable and does not decompose at temperature up to 400°C.
Environmental Friendliness
OPHB’s primary raw material is bio-based polymers.
OPHB is non-toxic when ingested, non-irritating to the skin, and shows negative results for reproductive cell chromosomal mutations.
Long-Lasting Antimicrobial and Wash Resistance
Textiles employing OPHB maintain excellent antimicrobial effects even after high intensity washing or mercerizing processes.
